Dr. Michael Swick is a general dentist and has offices in Allison
Park and Conneaut Lake Pennsylvania. He practices Microdentistry employing air
abrasion and laser, working through a surgical operating microscope. He holds
an advanced proficiency in the 980nm and 2940nm wavelengths and standard proficiency
in CO2, Nd:Yag, 810 nm diode, 980nm diode and Er:Yag wavelengths, through the
Academy of Laser Dentistry. He is also a certified educator and his courses are
accepted for Standard Proficiency Certification through the Academy of Laser Dentistry
where he is currently serving on the, board of directors, the Research and Education
committee and the Scientific Sessions committee. Additionally, he holds certification,
from St. Luke's Medical Center, in the Pinero Pre-cardiac Surgery Protocol with
lasers. He is a fellow in the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
He also is a lectured for the bioLitec and Hoya Conbio laser companies. Dr. Swick
has presented more than one hundred continuing education and hands-on courses

Milestones
in the Evolution of the High Tech Dental Practice 1980
- Dr. Swick had for many years realized the advantages of magnification in performance
of routine dentistry. He first began using 4.5 power magnification. 1984
- Introduction of the intraoral camera for its diagnostic ability and facilitation
of patient education. 1989
- Realizing, for many years the destructive nature of the preparations needed
to preparing teeth for silver fillings Dr. Swick began employing minimally invasive
dentistry techniques with the use of very small drills. 1993
- Dr. Swick began employing minimally invasive dentistry techniques using air
abrasion technology for tooth cutting, often without the need for anesthesia.
1993
- Argon laser for fast durable composite curing (white fillings) eliminating all
silver fillings from the practice. 1998
- The BioLitec 980nm diode soft tissue laser was introduced for atraumatic soft
tissue surgery and assistance in periodontal treatment. 1998
- Graduation to the use of a surgical operating microscope offering magnification
up to 24x. 1998
- Comfortable anesthesia techniques utilizing the Wand®, an advanced computerized
injection devise, are introduced. 1998/1999
- Dr. Swick developed the High Fluence technique for the 980nm Diode laser and
began lecturing on the benefits for patients and dentists alike. Quick procedures
with no bleeding, no charring of the tissue and rapid pain free healing are now
available because of this technique. 1999
- Schick digital x-rays are introduced; increasing diagnostic accuracy, greatly
reducing radiation to the patient and increasing the speed of appointments. 1999
- Erbium:YAG hard tissue laser, anesthesia reduced cavity preparations. 2000
- The Diagnodent was introduced for no touch diagnosis of hidden dental cavities
eliminating the need for the dental explorer. 2003
- Cerec Cad/cam instrumentation for immediate placement porcelain inlays, onlays,
crowns and laminates. 2005
- Casey computerized patient information system.
2007-Velscope Oral cancer detection system.
